A Charming and Peaceful Daily Life at Pinenut Village작성일 | 2025-08-11
A Healing Village Framed by Forest and Stream
Located near the North Han River and nestled by a clear mountain stream flowing from Chukryeong Mountain, Pinenut Village welcomes visitors with a serene and heartwarming atmosphere. The village’s entrance is marked by a rare Iljumun gate, traditionally found at Buddhist temples, symbolizing the beginning of a sacred journey. This gate, built in 2014 with wishes for prosperity and protection, sets the tone for what the village represents: harmony, abundance, and peace.
Locals say this land has long been called Samtaegi-hyeol, referencing a woven basket that holds blessings tightly—just like how fortune is said to never leave this place. More than just an experience site, Pinenut Village is a community built on the values of healing, emotional well-being, and craftsmanship.
Where Tradition and Creativity Come Together
One of the most beloved features of the village is its woodcraft workshop, where vibrant wooden art—made by village elders—brightens the area with playful charm. These elders, many over 80 years old, handcraft wooden figures and everyday items like clocks, pens, and cutting boards. Visitors can also personalize their creations by engraving names or designs using woodburning tools or laser equipment.
Another signature program is the traditional tofu-making workshop using locally grown soybeans and natural brine. Guests learn the full process—from grinding and heating the soybeans to curdling and pressing the tofu into soft (sundubu) or firm (modubu) forms. Watching fresh tofu come to life is a surprisingly simple and joyful experience, especially for families with children.
In addition, the village offers a wide range of pine nut-themed cooking experiences, including pine nut sujebi, sausages, and cracking open real pine cones to extract the precious seeds inside.
Beyond food, visitors can try hands-on programs like natural dyeing, gateball, and cutting board crafting, many of which are available for small groups or couples with prior reservation.
